Serving as an early Christmas surprise to his fans, Busta Rhymes along with his longtime friend Q-Tip release a mixtape titled “The Abstract and the Dragon.” The surprise gets even bigger as the two artists announce that their mixtape released on December 12, 2013 is completely free, making it an excellent gift.
What led to the project? Perhaps it was the 26-year friendship of Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip plus the fact that the two have made countless records together leading to a project or rather an album of love. The two are not afraid to share their spotlight adding countless other artists including: Redman, Raekwon, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, and more to the mixtape. A more recent release that is featured on “The Abstract and the Dragon” is the song Thank You that includes Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip and features Lil Wayne and Kanye West to other well-known artist.
“The Abstract and the Dragon” impressive 28-track listing includes songs that Busta Rhymes and Q-tip have worked on since first collaborating together, including the 1999 remix of “Vivrant Thing” which also featured Missy Elliott. The massive catalog of songs included on the album gives listeners a taste of new music as well as previously released tracks of Busta Rhymes.
Great friendship mixed in with fellow artists and a love for music and fans leads to the finished product titled “The Abstract and the Dragon.”
