There have been a lot of very successful actresses in the entertainment industry over the years, who have gone on to have children, before returning back to the acting game once their child was born. However, it is also a fair point to say that these actresses have missed out on certain career opportunities due to their growing families.
That is a point that Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz has considered during her life and her career, which has ultimately led to her longevity in the acting business. Cameron has opened up about why she has never had children and it looks she did not want the distraction of having to take care of a family.
Diaz told Esquire, "It's so much more work to have children. To have lives besides your own that you are responsible for – I didn't take that on. That did make things easier for me. A baby – that's all day, every day for eighteen years. I like protecting people, but I was never drawn to being a mother.
Meanwhile, Cameron Diaz then went on to talk about growing old, admitting that she was always a little scared about going through the aging process. Now though, Cameron states that she is now accepting of growing old and has learned not to worry about it/
Diaz added, "I like being 41. I love it. So much just falls away. Fear, mostly. It's the best age. That's when a woman knows how to work things, or she doesn't care about that anymore. You just stop being afraid. You don't worry about what men think. You just don't worry that time registers anything awful."
Cameron Diaz will next be seen on the big screen in the movie Sex Tape, which co-stars Jason Segel and opens on July 18 in the US, before then hitting the big screen in the UK on September 3.
