It is always interesting to see a foreign star in the entertainment industry finally becoming an official American citizen, along with how they respond to this new era of their life. It seems that not everybody has the same opinion on becoming an US citizen, as Camila Alves and Emily Blunt have shown. Camila recently spoke about becoming a US citizen and it seems that she is very proud of it.
Alves recently explained, "It was a family affair. It was a really big deal to become an American citizen the right way. You have to work really hard and it is such an honor to be able to say that. You have to study a lot, but also just the whole process. I got my green card and everything through my work, even before marriage or anything like that, so you really have to follow the rules and do everything the right way to be able to accomplish that, so it was big."
While becoming an American citizen was clearly a big deal for Camila Alves, who was clearly honoured by the who thing, it seems that things were a bit different for actress Emily Blunt, who has also spoken about it. Emily claims that one of the biggest reasons she became an US citizen was for "tax purposes," clearly not taking things quite as seriously as Camila.
Blunt recently said, "It's mainly for tax reasons. You have to learn all about the Constitution. You can't be a habitual drunk, you can't be on a guerrilla squad and you can't be a prostitute, which is a shame. I became an American citizen recently, and that night, we watched the Republican debate, and I thought, 'This was a terrible mistake. What have I done?'"
While it is clear to see that Emily Blunt is making light of the situation and is obviously just having a joke about, it is definitely interesting to see how these two foreign beauties talk about becoming an official US citizen.
