The release of the Marvel movie Iron Man 3 saw the end of the contract of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark aka Iron Man. Now, people are talking about the future of the Iron Man franchise and whether it will be able to succeed without Robert Downey Jr in the lead role.
Marvel Studio president, Kevin Feige believes Iron Man can succeed with a new actor playing Tony Stark, "I believe there will be a fourth Iron Man and a fifth, sixth and a 10th and a 20th. I see no reason why Tony Stark can't be as evergreen as James Bond, Batman, or for that matter, Spider-Man," he told EW.
Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr has admitted that he would relish the opportunity to give some words of wisdom to the new actor, "Probably one of my finest days of stewardship would be discussing the matter with whoever is cast to carry the torch. That's what life is about," he added.
However, there are those who feel that it will be very difficult to replace Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, such as Gywneth Paltrow, who said, "You've got pathos, you've got humour, you've got a facility with language and improvisation and an incredible pain underneath it all. It's difficult to replicate that."
You can see Robert Downey Jr in his fourth, and possibly final, outing as Tony Stark aka Iron Man in Iron Man 3, which is out now in both the US and the UK.
