While it has been confirmed recently that Anthony Mackie will be joining the cast of the Captain America sequel, titled Captain America: The Winter Soldier, there is still no confirmation on who the female lead will be. It has also yet to be confirmed who the female character will be.
However, the rumours have started to spread about who the character will be with a number of names being mentioned for the female lead role. Among these names three seem to be regularly appearing and they are Imogen Poots, Felicity Jones and Anna Kendrick, with many expecting Kendrick to get the part.
As for who the successful actress will be playing, Bleeding Cool seem convinced that it will be Sharon Carter, the neice of Peggy, as she appears in The Winter Soldier stories. This has yet to be confirmed by anybody involved with the Marvel movie and there are plenty other characters being mentioned.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set to begin production later this year with Community helmers Anthony and Joe Russo being signed up by Marvel to direct the movie. The movie is currently expected to be released in the US on April 4, 2014, although that date could yet change.
