There have been many rumors floating around about the possibility of leads for Sharon Carter/Agent 13 in Captain America 2: Winter Soldier. Some of the names being tossed around included some very high profile ones: Anna Kendrick, Imogen Poots, Alison Brie, and Teresa Palmer. However, one thing in common that each of them had was that none of them have yet been leads in major comic book adaptation, so this would be a coup for any one of them to get the role.
Now, Latino Review is revealing that the reason that none of the aforementioned actresses were reported as testing for the role despite their names leaking a couple of weeks ago is that the role has already been taken: by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, of Scott Pilgrim and Live Free or Die Hard fame. Her most famous roles have been those two, but she can also been seen right now in the movie ‘Smashed’, which many are saying is lead by an Oscar caliber performance from Winstead.
Captain America 2’s release date is set for April, 2014 so it’s only a matter of time before casting announcements become official. In the comics, Sharon carter is the niece of Peggy Carter, who was the lead in the first Captain America movie, and was played by Hayley Atwell.
