Some fans questioned the casting of Emily VanCamp in the role of Agent 13 for the Marvel movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier, with some claiming that she is too skinny for the role. The Russo Brothers are directing the movie and they have defended the decision, praising Emily in the process.
During a new interview with Nylon magazine, Joe Russo explained, "We wanted someone that Cap would have an immediate interest in. It had to be a strong-willed person, and we felt that Emily’s work on Revenge was a great test tube for what this character could be."
He then continued, by discussing her credibility as an actress, adding, "She’s obviously very credible with physicality, she holds the screen really well, and she even looks like the character from the books."
As well as starring Emily VanCamp, Captain America: The Winter Soldier also stars Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Robert Redford, Samuel L Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Hayley Atwell and Sebastian Stan. Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens on April 4, 2014 in the US, before then hitting the big screen on May 2, 2014 in the UK.
