When it comes to tennis, it is fair to say that Wimbledon is the biggest and most exciting tournament of the year, which every player who has every played the game has dreamed of winning. Unfortunately for the UK though, there has not been a female tennis player good enough to put up a strong fight at Wimbledon for many years.
It was quite a shock then, when this year at Wimbledon we saw the British player Naomi Broady make it into the second round of Wimbledon, giving her an exciting match against Caroline Wozniacki in the second round of the tournament. While Naomi would have liked to have not let the occasion get the better of her, it certainly seems like it did on the day.
Caroline Wozniacki made light work of Naomi Broady, proving the difference in class between the two players, winning the match with easy and taking it in straight sets. Caroline won the match 6-3 6-2 and barely broke a sweat in sweeping the British player aside and making her way into the third round of Wimbledon.
While there was really no expectation on Naomi Broady during the match with Caroline Wozniacki, her performance did give off the impression that she just rolled over and died. We are sure that this was not the case but the match certainly proved that Naomi still has a lot of work to do with her tennis if she wishes to compete on a higher level than she is now.
Who do you think will win the women's singles title at Wimbledon 2014?
