Former American Idol contestant Carrie Underwood is possibly one of the biggest country music stars around at the moment but she admits that she was worried that it would never happen. Carrie rose to fame thanks to American Idol and it was on the show where she first came face to face with Simon Cowell.

Carrie has now revealed how, while she was waiting backstage for her name to be called at her American Idol audition, someone told her that Simon Cowell hates Country music. Fortunate Simon put Carrie through and she has admitted that he is now open to the genre.
Underwood explained, "I definitely think he’s more open to it – yeah, maybe because it makes money! He’s smart and there’s a lot to be done in country music. It’s one of the least hard hit by illegal downloading. The fans are so loyal."

Carrie Underwood is set to perform with LeAnne Rimes at the C2C: Country to Country music festival, which will take place at the London O2 Arena this weekend. Meanwhile, Carrie Underwood says that she would be tempted to be a judge on The X Factor, as she has the experience which the contestants will go through.
