As the days continue to count down to the 2014 Oscars, the anticipation continues to rise and everybody is trying to guess who will win what award at this years ceremony. The categories this year have been extremely tight, with a lot of fantastic performances in some very impressive movies. From looking at a lot of the opinions going round, it is still difficult to gauge quite who the favourites are.
With that said, it does seem like actress Cate Blanchett has become the favourite for the Best Actress in a Leading Role award, for her brilliant performance in the movie Blue Jasmine. Cate Blanchett does already have one Oscar win to her name, after taking home the Best Actress in a Supporting Role award in 2005 for her role in The Aviator, so adding a leading actress win to that would be perfect.
While Cate Blanchett does look to have become the front-runner in the race for the Best Actress in a Leading Role Oscar, it is far from being a done deal, as she faces some very tough competition in the category. With the amount of talent on offer, it really is anyones award to win this year.
As well as Cate Blanchett being nominated, for her role in Blue Jasmine, the other Best Actress in a Leading Role nominees are Amy Adams for American Hustle, Judi Dench for Philomena, Meryl Streep for August: Osage County, and Sandra Bullock for Gravity.
