There has been a lot of talk about the Oscars 2014 of the past few weeks and even months, as the biggest awards ceremony of the year has edged closer and closer before kicking off this evening in Hollywood. The latest Oscar to be announced was the Best Actress in a Leading Role award, which has had many people, fans and critics alike, split on who would win the awards. There was a general consensus that Cate Blanchett was the favourite to win the Best Actress in a Leading Role Oscar, for her performance in the movie Blue Jasmine and now the winner has finally been confirmed.
With Cate Blanchett nominated for her role in the movie Blue Jasmine, the rest of the Best Actress in a Leading Role nominees were Judi Dench for Philomena, Meryl Streep for August: Osage County, Sandra Bullock for Gravity and Amy Adams for American Hustle. While they all put in great performances, it has just been announced that Cate Blanchett wins the Best Actress Oscar 2014.
During her acceptance speech, Cate Blanchett thanked everyone that all the winners usually do, while then going on to praise the other women who she beat to the award. This is the second Oscar that Cate Blanchett has won in her career and, as she took to the stage to give her big speech she was clearly delighted with the victory.
