Chace Crawford is filming his most high-profile role yet, a far cry from his days on Gossip Girl. While the CW show managed to put him on the radar, it wasn't until recently that Chace started signing up for gritty and darker roles that would show off his acting skills. He'll be seen in 'Undrafted' later this year with Aaron Tveit and Tyler Hoechlin, and he's also starring in 'Eloise' with Eliza Dushki and Robert Patrick.
Both of them are gritty and haunting, and are sure to play well on the indie circuit, if not in wide release. He also shot indie dramedy Mountain Men recently, which is also set to come out this year. He's got quite a few films coming out this year, doesn't he? Mountain Men is the most esoteric of his projects, focusing on two brothers traveling to their remote family cabin to get rid of a squatter. Then, hijinks ensue.
While all these projects sound great, it's really the untitled Warren Beatty project that sounds like it could put Chace on the map. He's working with a terrific cast, which includes Warren Beatty himself, Lily Collins, Annette Bening, Alec Baldwin, Matthew Broderick, Taissa Farmiga, and Oliver Platt. Warren's playing Howard Hughes, and the movie is supposedly focused on the later years of Howard's life, when he allegedly had an affair with a younger woman.
We know that Chace isn't playing a leading role, but various reports suggest that he could be playing a fairly important supporting character. Considering the behind-the-camera and acting talent involved, this movie's already primed for success on the festival circuit. And for the first time, Chace will be able to prove that he's able to carry the heavy lifting when it comes to serious dramas and more actorly projects.
