It feels a bit like superhero movies are taking over Hollywood these days, with the amount of new superhero films we get every year. The X-Men franchise continues to grow and get bigger and better and now, Channing Tatum has admitted that he would love to have a go at playing an authentic Cajun Gambit in the new films.
Tatum told Total Film, "I haven't really had much superhero movies, there's a lot of them, there's a lot of superheroes out there. I would like to play Gambit, Gambit's my favourite, I'm from New Orléans and around that area, my dad's from New Orléans and I'd like to do the Cajun accent and I could do that for real."
He added, "No knock on Taylor Kitsch as I actually like his Gambit but I've always lived in around the Cajun people and I would like to see a little bit like ... Gambit was always the woman loving, cigarette smoking, drinking ... he was the punk rock of all the superheroes. He's a thief, he kind of rode the line."
Gambit has yet to appear in the new X-Men movies, so it could be possible for him to appear in a future X-Men film but, whether or not Channing Tatum wins the role is another matter all together. X-Men: Days of Future Past will open on May 22, 2014 in the UK and May 23, 2014 in the US.
