We recently reported how there were rumours that Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam was having second thoughts about playing Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, as he was overwhelmed by the amount of attention he was suddenly receiving from the fans of the hit novel.

While we assumed at the time that this was all just rumour and that Charlie knew what to expect and could cope with the pressures of carrying such a huge project, it seems that the suggestions may have had some truth to them. It has now been confirmed that Charlie Hunnam has quit as Christian Grey for the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, leaving the door open for a new star to take his place.

Universal pictures released an official statement, which read, "The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule, which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey."

Most of the fans of the Fifty Shades of Grey novel were not too happy about the casting choices for the film and will now hope that one of their favourites for the role will be cast as Charlie Hunnam's replacement. With production on the Fifty Shades of Grey movie planned to begin on November 1, a new Christian Grey actor will need to be cast as soon as possible.
