British singer Charlotte Church has been in the music industry since she was just a young girl, so it is no surprise that she was offered the role of being a judge on The X Factor. However, Charlotte has revealed how and why she turned the show down, while also slating the series.
Church previously took to her official Twitter account, to inform her followers, "I got asked to do the X Factor job. I'd rather poke my eyes out with sticks than be a part of the machine that kills music."
Charlotte was then asked about The X Factor gig, to which she more reasonably replied, "I had a meeting to ask about the level of involvement in the creative process i could have, and they basically said none unless it was in line with what was required. I wanted to see just how hard-line it was. I found my answer and politely declined."
The new season of The X Factor will see a minor change to the judging panel, as Tulisa Contostavlos leaves the show after two seasons, with former judge Sharon Osbourne returning for a one season run. The X Factor is in the audition process now, with the show airing on ITV later this month.
