Colombian striker Radamel Falcao must be laughing all the way to the bank at the moment, after he managed to secure a season long loan at English Premier League champions Chelsea. It was just last season that Radamel Falcao joined Manchester United on a season long loan but, after failing to impress and being considered a flop by most, the club decided not to make the move permanent.
Now, it has been confirmed that Chelsea are the latest team to take a gamble on a player who is clearly shot and is not even half the player he once was. According to the reports, Chelsea will pay Monaco a loan fee of £4m, as well as paying Radamel Falcao himself a staggering £180k a week, which is not too much less than he was on at Manchester United.
A very excited Radamel Falcao explained, "I am very happy to be joining Chelsea. I can't wait to start training, to help with our aim of retaining the league title and being successful in Europe."
It is not the first time that Chelsea have taken a punt on a striker who was once prolific but lost their way. The club bought Fernando Torres from Liverpool for £50m, even though everybody knew that the player was shot. During his time at Chelsea, Fernando Torres only managed to score 20 goals in 110 Premier League games, and 45 goals in 172 games in all competitions. It will be interesting to see how Radamel Falcao will do.
Do you think Radamel Falcao will play well for Chelsea?
