It was no surprise when it was announced that Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech wanted to leave the club, since he was their second choice keeper last season and, a player of his ability should not have to sit on any bench. Petr wanted to stay in London though, which led to Arsenal making an approach and the player agreeing to make the move, to become Arsenal's number one next season.
This means that Chelsea are now looking for a new goalkeeper to replace Petr Cech and become the new second choice goalkeeper at the club. There have been a few names mentioned but it looks like Chelsea have their sights set on the Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, who would jump at the chance to join the Premier League champions.
It is believed that Chelsea would have to pay in the region of £8m for Asmir Begovic, who will go from playing first team football every week, to becoming little more than a bench warmer. At the age of 28, Asmir is entering his prime and it is surprising that he would be willing to sit out the best years of his career, when he could guarantee himself first team football elsewhere.
With that said, there have been a lot of players over the years, who have moved clubs due to the amount of money on the table and we are sure that the wages Chelsea would be able to offer Asmir Begovic will play a huge part in his decision.
Do you think Asmir Begovic should join Chelsea or stay at Stoke City?
