There were quite a lot of moans and groans when it was revealed that Cheryl Cole had chosen Stevi Ritchie as the wild card for Simon Cowell, with many people feeling that the place should have been given to someone more deserving. It was even suggested that Cheryl only did it in a bid to sabotage Simon Cowell's chances of being the winning judge on the show.
So, a few weeks back, when Stevi Ritchie said that he would sing a ballad on Halloween week, there were a few sniggers, as many people did not expect the wannabe to still be around by that time. However, Stevi has become a hit with the fans and has a growing following, keeping him in the show, with Halloween week coming this Saturday.
With constant criticism coming from the judges every week, Stevi Ritchie will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Cher Lloyd, who had a similar experience on the show. Cher received quite a lot of criticism on The X Factor, before going on to sing a ballad on Halloween week and win pretty much everyone over, which Stevi will try to do this Saturday.
Unfortunately for Stevi Ritchie, the difference between him and Cher Lloyd is the fact that Cher could actually sing, while Stevi is a pub karaoke singer at best. What Stevi does well, is he has a ball while he is on that stage, giving it his all and making it fun. A slow song could ruin everything that we have come to love about him and could well be the final nail in his X Factor coffin.
