It has been reported that former X Factor judge and singer Cheryl Cole is set to drop her surname and just be known professionally as Cheryl. However, Cheryl is not doing away with the Cole part of her name completely and intends to still hang on to the Cole surname.

A source explained to The Sun, “Cheryl is beginning a new chapter in her life so she doesn’t want to be associated with negative stuff from the past. She’s not removing Cole legally, it’s just a career statement.”
They added, “She’s in a really good place at the moment and wants to take life by the balls. She can’t wait to start performing live again and her new stage name has given her comeback an extra bit of spice.”

Cherly Cole, formerly Cheryl Tweedy, married Chelsea and England left back Ashley Cole in July 2006, after he had proposed to her in Dubal in 2005, when they had been dating for around nine months. However, the couple split following allegations that Ashley Cole had been having an affair.
Do you think it is a good idea by Cheryl Cole to go by the stage name Cheryl?
