The 2014 Oscars are just around the corner and it has to be one of the most competitive years that we have had for some time, especially in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category with any one of the five nominees capable of winning the Oscar. While three of the nominees have been in this position before, there are two that have been nominated for the first time.
Hollywood actor Chiwetel Ejiofor put in the performance of his career in the movie 12 Years a Slave and was deservedly nominated for the Best Actor in a Leading Role category for his performance. Chiwetel managed to bag the best actor award at the recent BAFTA's but does that mean that he has become a favourite to take home the Oscar at the weekend?
Well it is hard to say this year, as there is so much talent on offer but it certainly can't harm his chances of winning this year. Chiwetel Ejiofor has announced himself as one of the top actors in Hollywood and it might be a case of the Academy feeling that he will get another chance in the future, so opting for someone else, we will just have to wait and see.
There is no denying the fact that the Best Actor in a Leading Role category is the toughest that it has been for some time and Chiwetel Ejiofor is in good company with Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf of Wall Street), Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club), Christian Bale (American Hustle) and Bruce Dern (Nebraska) also up for the award.
The 86th Academy Awards will take place this Sunday, March 2.
