There has been a lot of talk surrounding the movie Snowpiercer over the past couple of years, as it has continued to come close to release before being set back. It was expected that Snowpiercer would be one of the most anticipated movies in 2013 but it failed to find a release date on the release slate of The Harvey Weinstein Company. Fortunately, it looks like Snowpiercer is finally going to hit the big screen.
It has been confirmed that Snowpiercer, which is the English language feature film debut of the talented Joon-ho Bong and stars Chris Evans in the lead role, will open the Los Angeles Film Festival on Wednesday, June 11. Meanwhile, the movie will have an official nationwide release in the US on June 27, while we are still awaiting an official release date for the UK.
For those of you who have not heard much about the upcoming movie, Snowpiercer has ben described as "In a future where a failed global-warming experiment kills off most life on the planet, a class system evolves aboard the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe via a perpetual-motion engine."
As well as starring Chris Evans in the lead role, Snowpiercer also boasts a very impressive supporting cast including names such as Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Luke Pasqualino, John Hurt, Alison Pill, Ed Harris and Octavia Spencer. Snowpiercer is directed by Joon-ho Bong, who also wrote the screenplay along with Kelly Masterson, based on Le Transperceneige, which was written by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand and Jean-Marc Rochette.
