There have been a lot of rumours about the potential different Star Wars spinoff movies we will be getting in the coming years but it seems almost certain that we are going to get a Han Solo spinoff movie, looking at the younger years of the character, before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope. A new actor will need to be cast to play the young Han Solo and they most certainly have some big boots to fill, following the fantastic performances from Harrison Ford but, here we take a look at some of the names being mentioned as possible candidates for the role.
First up we have the actor Chris Pine, who has proven over the past few years, that he certainly has the looks and the charisma to play a character such as Han Solo, although his age could be a major factor her. While Chris Pine is younger than Harrison Ford was when he first played Han Solo, it does seem difficult to imagine Chris playing a mid 20s Han Solo, although we would love to be proven wrong.
Next up we have the actor Armie Hammer, who has had a rather interesting career to date. There was once a time when Armie almost played Batman on the big screen and you certainly need to have charm to pull of Bruce Wayne. There is no doubt that Hammer has plenty of that but we can't help but feel that the actor is a bit too clean cut to play someone such as Han Solo, while also being a few inches too tall.
Finally we have the Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley, who has given us some impressive performances over the years and would definitely be able to take on the role of a young Han Solo. Penn has yet to really have that huge leading man role since Gossip Girl came to an end, so playing a young Han Solo in the Star Wars spinoff could be the perfect role to bring him back to the top.
With that said, we would love to see a relatively unknown actor being given the role, just as Harrison Ford was a relatively unknown actor before taking on the role of Han Solo. Who would you like to see playing a young Han Solo in the Star Wars spinoff?
