It has been reported that Daybreak presenters Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles have been sacked from the ITV breakfast show, due to increasingly poor ratings. The ratings have hit an all time low, with only 350,000 viewers on same days, which is a staggering one fifth of the viewers that rival show BBC Breakfast receives.
A show insider explained, "It's game over. ITV have tried everything to make the show work, but viewers are fed up with Adrian and Christine. The point of scrapping a well-liked brand like GMTV was to come up with something a lot better, but the opposite's been true." It seems that viewers of the show tend to find Adrian Chiles grumpy and Christine Bleakey an air head.
Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley will now work on other ITV projects, with Christine already being signed up to co host Dancing On Ice, following Holly Willoughby’s departure, to host BBC talent show The Voice. Adrian Chiles joined ITV on a four year deal, reportedly worth £6million, while Christine Bleakley is believed to be on a £4million deal for the four years. An official announcement is expected to be made on December 1, when new boss David Kermode arrives.
