Romeo and Juliet actress Claire Danes stars in the psychological thriller television series Homeland but the actress admits that she was not entirely sure what the show was about during production. Claire claims that there were so many twists that she was not sure what was going on.
Danes explained at the time of filming Homeland, "I'm still not entirely clear what it is we're making and I'm so embedded in the process of making it that I can't see the forest for the trees. It's always shifting on its axis."
Claire Danes also spoke about her character in the show, Carrie. Claire added, "I have great empathy for her suffering, her struggles. She's very lonely, very isolated. And so idiosyncratic! Her condition, her bipolar disorder, puts her in a state of constant emergency. She can never take her own well-being for granted.”
She continued, "But it's hard to balance her bipolar condition with her professionalism. Both need to be credible. You don't want the bipolar thing to just be a gimmick, and you don't want her to be so disabled by it that her credibility as an agent is undermined. So navigating them has been challenging for me.”
Homeland premiered on Showtime on Sunday, October 2 and will run for twelve episodes, with the season finale on Sunday, December 18. The show has already been commissioned for a second season with production beginning in the spring of 2012.
