It seems as though re-imagining of classic stories and characters is all the rage lately, as the success of Sherlock Holmes and Sleepy Hollow have really showed us [just to name a few]. Now, Luther's creator has created a new pirate drama focused on the infamous character of Blackbeard, which will be airing on NBC.
The title of the show is 'Crossbones', and both Claire Foy and Richard Coyle have joined the cast of the show. Foy will reportedly play a crew member that works for Blackbeard, who's reportedly being played by John Malkovich. Hugh Laurie was reportedly rumored for the part before Malkovich was later cast.
Crossbones will officially be set in 1715, and focus on Blackbeard, 'reigning over a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws and miscreant sailors.'
The show's being eyed for a 2014 air date, and will be a ten-part series. After the success of this summer's Under The Dome, the actual popularity of limited series [much like cable networks have been doing for years] has increased, with many networks trying the new format. Are you guys excited for Crossbones, and will you be tuning it to watch? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
