It was quite surprising to hear that Clash of the Titans 2 was actually being made, considering the worldwide criticism that Clash of the Titans received. However, the first movie managed to rake in an impressive $492 million worldwide, so a money making sequel was sure to be made.
The majority of the surviving characters from the first movie are set to appear in Clash of the Titans 2 and Gemma Arterton was due to reprise her role as Io. However, Gemma had to pull out of the sequel due to scheduling conflicts and it is now uncertain whether Io will appear in Clash of the Titans 2.
Gemma Arterton was more than happy to return to the movie but she had already signed on to play Gretel in the movie Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, which is set to be released on March 2, 2012. Clash of the Titans 2 is expected to be released on March 30, 2012.
