Former American Idol wannabe, Clay Aiken has hit out at the shows bosses, for putting more focus on the judges than on the contestants. Clay says that in the early days of the show, the contestants were the ones that were the stars but now, the judges take centre stage.

During a conversation with Billboard, Aiken made his thoughts perfectly clear, “Idol back in those days was about the contestants. Kelly [Clarkson] and Justin [Guarini] and Tamyra [Gray] and Nikki McKibbin, they were all the stars of the show,” he explained.
Clay then continued by adding, “When I was on, Ruben [Studdard] and myself and Kimberley Locke were the stars of the show. Now Idol is about the judges. I don't even know if they remember there are contestants anymore.”

The American Idol team for 2012
The new season of American Idol has yet to even hit the television screens, but it has already had plenty of controversy surrounding it. New judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj have been involved in quite a big bust up, although they seem to have patched things up now.
The new season of American Idol is set to premiere on Fox in January 2013.
