Irish actor Colin Farrell has defended the decision to remake the 1990 hit movie Total Recall, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role. Colin claims that the remake is not identical to the original and that he felt the story needed retelling.
Farrell explained, "It's really different. The story is very much inspired by the Philip K. Dick short story (We Can Remember It For You Wholesale) but it's been changed significantly. The world created is very different from the world in the original. I love the original but it's different enough that it warrants retelling."
The Total Recall remake boasts an all star cast, including Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, Kate Beckinsale, Ethan Hawke and Bill Nighy. Colin Farrell will be taking on the role of Doug Quaid aka Hauser, the role made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Total Recall is released on August 3, 2012 in the US and August 22, 2012 in the UK.
