Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley is consider one of the sexiest UK soap stars on television but it seems that she was not always the envy of other women. Catherine has revealed how she used to have a battle with her weight issues, before deciding to turn her life around and lose her excess weight.
Tyldesley is quoted by The Mirror, "When I was younger I made bad choices when it came to food. I ate things I shouldn’t and it put everything out of sync. I had extra meals and snacks here and there – tea at a friend’s (when I had already eaten mine at home) and daily visits to the tuck shop. The things we made in Food Technology lessons at school didn’t exactly help – pizza, cake and the like."
Catherine added, "Over the years all those bad choices mounted up and by the age of 17, I was a size 22 and heavier than I care to remember. It affected my life in so many ways, whether it was having to shop at different clothes stores from my friends, or being the one left out when they started to get boyfriends. But it only really hit home when I went to audition for a part in Grease, and was told I was too big for the role."
She concluded, "If my eating habits were going to stop me achieving my dreams, I knew I had to change. The first step to shifting that weight was to re-educate myself about food and nutrition – to get a real grasp of what was good for me, what would keep my energy levels high rather than just fill me up. I learned about the power of protein and the importance of a proper breakfast over a bowl of sugary cereal or a pile of white toast. Of course, the second step is exercise."
Catherine Tyldesley was addressing the G8 summit leaders when she made her statement. Catherine also addressed the fact that she believes that there is enough food in the World to prevent the starving families in third world countries, if only we were to make better choices ourselves.
