Dutch legend and former Barcelona midfielder Ronald De Boer has spoken out about who he thinks should win the Balon d’Or in January and it appears that he is having a hard time splitting Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Ronald has claimed that, if it was up to him, he would give it to them both.

De Boer explained, “Having in mind what Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi keep doing at the high-level, I see no other possibility than giving the FIFA Balon d'Or to both of them! I'm not neglecting the fact that they both benefit a lot from having players such as Xavi, Iniesta, Ozil or Xabi Alonso near them, but they do deserve all the praise they have been receiving.”
However, while Ronald De Boer suggests that both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi should share the award, he does believe that one of them is actually better than the other. Ronald admits the he enjoyed the performances of both players in the Clasico but insists that Messi is the best player ever.

He added, “I really enjoyed seeing both Messi and Ronaldo hitting the back of the net twice at the last Clasico. They don't get tired of impressing the World, week after week. However, I do think that Lionel Messi is the best football player to have ever played this game.”
The debate over who is better between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will go on for many years to come but the Balon d’Or will be decided in the next few months.
