When it comes to the Star Wars movies, there was once a time when any writer or director in the business would have loved to have had a crack at one of the films but, following the amount of abuse that Rian Johnson has come in for following Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we would expect that most people would now actually be hesitant about getting involved with a Star Wars project.
One of the biggest issues that fans had about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, was how Rian Johnson dealt with the reveal of Rey's parents, which left pretty much every fan disappointed, as they were hoping for something more shocking and exciting. However, Rian has now admitted that, since he is not involved with Star Wars: Episode IX, then we could well see a different reveal taking place.
Johnson said, "Anything’s still open, and I’m not writing the next film. [J.J. Abrams and Chris Terrio] are doing it. With all of these movies, Obi-Wan’s whole speech about a certain point of view always applies, so I think that you have to always think about the context of how information is given. But for me, dramatically, that’s why that reveal at that moment made sense."
Fans around the world have come to love Daisy Ridley in the role of Rey in these new Star Wars movie and we are all hoping that she will get the reveal that, not only Rey deserves, but also Daisy and the rest of the Star Wars fans around the world. Star Wars: Episode IX is due to arrive on December 20, 2019.
