It has been reported that the Chinese Foreign Ministry is deeply upset by the meeting between US president Barack Obama and the Dalai Lama. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu revealed the country’s anger via a written statement.
The statement read, "Such an act has grossly interfered in China's internal affairs, hurt the feelings of Chinese people and damaged the Sino-American relations." Tibet is regarded as an inseparable part of China and Beijing see the Dalai Lama as a splittist, set on dividing the country.
However, the Dalai Lama has admitted that he accepts China’s rule but is just seeking improved rights for Tibet. However, Ma continued, "We demand the US side to seriously consider China's stance, immediately adopt measures to wipe out the baneful impact, stop interfering in China's internal affairs and cease to connive and support anti-China separatist forces that seek 'Tibet independence'."
