Damian Lewis was recently on the Ellen Degeneres show to talk about ‘Homeland’ [can be viewed here] and the end of the second season. Ellen talks about being a huge fan of the show, and then asks Lewis whether there’s a possibility that they’re going to kill him off by the season’s end. Lewis replies, “You know what, I think anybody can get killed on this show. There’s a high body count. Out of the main character, nobody yet [has died].” He continues, “You put the suicide vest on, and it [mimes boom]. People get hurt in the making of this film…”
Ellen is quick to catch on and asks whether that means he’s going to put the suicide vest on again, but he says, “I didn’t say that.” She refutes it, saying, “Yes you did, until he gives in.” He jokes to the audience, saying Ellen should be in the CIA.
However, this doesn’t necessarily mean anything – it’s likely in his contract that Lewis will get sued or something equally terrible if he does reveal what will happen on Homeland. Thus, it’s highly unlikely he let ‘slip’ such a crucial plot point from the story.
Ellen then calls Claire Danes great in this show, and Lewis is quick to agree, saying, “Yeah, she’s phenomenal. We love working together. I say that, I think she likes working with me. I like working with her, and she’s passionate and committed, and being on camera with her is always fun, always intense, but always is fun too.”
