There have been a lot of physically demanding roles in movies over the years and there are a lot of different superhero movies that require the actors to be in tip-top shape for the shooting of the film. While the likes of Batman and Superman are obviously physically big characters, Green Goblin is less so but that does not mean it is not a physically demanding role.
Actor Dane DeHaan plays the role of Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and he has been talking about the physical challenges that came with playing the character. Dane has revealed how he lost seven pounds in two days, admitting that the heavy costume that he had to wear had a lot to do with it.
DeHaan explained, "Physically it's an incredibly challenging role. The suit I wear weighs 50 pounds (22.7 kilograms) and it takes an hour to put on, after three-and-a-half hours of makeup."
Dane then went on to reveal one particular scene that really took a lot out of him, "So the final battle (scenes) between me and Spider-Man, were in a clock tower and... they were literally taking buckets of ice water and pouring it down my suit in between takes and it was just turning to steam," added DeHaan.
As for his future acting projects, Dane DeHaan will appear alongside Robert Pattinson, Joel Edgerton and Ben Kingsley in the movie Life, where he will play the role of James Dean. Life is directed by Anton Corbijn and is expected to hit the big screen sometime in 2015.
