Despite the fact that Dane DeHaan is still only 28 years old, it really does feel like the actor has been around forever, as the Hollywood star has given us some fantastic performances in some exciting roles for some interesting movies. Dane has become one of the most sought after young stars in Hollywood and has plenty more roles coming up that many actors would love to have.
One of these exciting, upcoming roles is as the legendary superstar James Dean in the new movie Life. Dane is a self-confessed fan of James Dean and says that, while he was unsure about taking the role at first, he has since gone on to study the actor in great detail in preparation for the role.
DeHaan explained, "It's about a lot of things but I think it's about the photographer's journey and the influence James Dean has on him, and what it means to be professional but still have a place to call home. It's a pretty deep exploration in a movie that just goes into two weeks of James Dean's life."
He added, "I was about 20 pounds heavier at the time. I had four months to prepare. It was a great luxury to have that time to read as much as I could. He's my favourite actor. I didn't know if I wanted to do that movie at first but when I decided to do it I wanted to make sure I had time to prepare and I could honour him as much as I could."
Life will see Dane DeHaan starring alongside the likes of Robert Pattinson, Ben Kingsley, and Joel Edgerton, with the movie written by Luke Davies and directed by Anton Corbijn, and a release date expected sometime in 2015.
