When it comes to sport, it seems fair to say that the male version of any sport is more popular and more successful than the female version, especially when it comes to motor sport, which has struggled to land any major female stars over the years. With that said, there has definitely been one woman who has been leading the way for any other women looking to get into motor sport.
Danica Patrick has enjoyed a long career in motor sport, first making a name for herself in the IndyCar series, before then going on to make the move to NASCAR, where she has been racing for the past few years. While it is fair to say that Danica has not exactly been hugely successful in NASCAR, she has shown that it is possible for a female driver to compete on the NASCAR scene.
Now though, it has been claimed that Danica Patrick will not be driving in NASCAR next season due to sponsorship issues, which leaves her free to move on to a different side of the motor sport world. At the age of 35, Danica is getting no younger in terms of racing age, so now could be the time for her to make the biggest move of her career and look for a drive in Formula 1.
There is expected to be some movement between drivers and teams in Formula One next season, which could open up a seat for Danica Patrick, should she be able to bag herself a big enough backer. With that said, it seems that her lack of sponsorship would be a big stumbling block, not to mention her lack of experience, so she would be lucky to even bag a reserve drive in F1.
