A lot of people who know of NCIS actress Daniela Ruah will have noticed that her right eye appears to be a lot darker than her left. Many people wonder what is wrong with Daniela Ruah’s eye but it is not a case of anything being “wrong” with it, it is simply a birthmark that covers the white of her right eye.

Daniela explained, “It's a birthmark called nevus of Ota. It covers the whole white of my eye and darkens it. The square of the eye, the white part, is completely dark on my right eye, not just the iris. It's very common in Asian people but quite rare in Caucasians. It doesn't affect my vision or anything like that.”
In some photographs of Daniela Ruah, it is not very noticeable. This is due to photoshop, something which Daniela disapproves of. She added, “Photoshop. It drives me crazy. This is my eye, my little trademark. Not long ago, I started adding a little smiley face when I sign an autograph, and one of the eyes is darker.”

Daniela Ruah's eyes are widely discussed issue
Daniela Ruah’s eye is always a conversation starter but has it ever affected her career at all? Daniela concluded, “It starts the conversation, if anything. But I don't think it's ever gotten me a job or lost me a job. When we're shooting, sometimes they need to light my eye in a slightly different way. Otherwise, it looks like there's a big shadow over it. But that's pretty much it.” Daniela Ruah can be seen on the big screen, when Red Tails is released on January 20, 2012.
