When an actress with a series regular role in a hit TV show falls pregnant, it is usually the case that she will take some time off from filming the series, as she gets bigger and bigger before giving birth. It is usually the job of the writers to come up with a way to write the character out of the show for a while, or to make the character pregnant in the show. However, this has not been the case with actress Daniela Ruah.
Daniela Ruah plays the role of Kensei Blye in the hit television series NCIS: Los Angeles and she announced that she was pregnant while filming the show. While many fans expected to see Kensei Blye written out of the show for a while, the writers actually managed to keep her in the show and not have to make the character pregnant.
Daniela Ruah continued to film scenes as Kensei Blye in NCIS:: Los Angeles all through her pregnancy and the show continues to have the character as a key figure, despite the fact that Daniela Ruah has now given birth. Kensei Blye is out in Afghanistan and the show continues to keep her involved in the storylines and it looks like that will continue.
Executive producer Shane Brennan recently spoke about keeping Kensei Blye in the show, admitting that he did not want to have to lose the character, so was pleased to find a way around the matter. Shane says he is a big fan of the Kensei Blye in Afghanistan storyline and will continue to focus on that. NCIS: Los Angeles airs on Tuesday evenings.
