The Voice UK coach Danny O’Donoghue has claimed that the hit reality singing competition has encouraged more children to pick up a musical instrument. Danny says that he is regularly approached by young people, who have credited him for their inspiration.
O’Donoghue told The Daily Star, “After The Voice, kids were coming up to me and saying, 'I learned to play guitar like you did on the U2 tune' or 'I learned piano like you played on that song'. No-one was saying, 'I learned how to slag off my mates at school', which a lot of other shows promote.”
He added, “It would have been a crime not to have someone from a band up there, not just for us to get more recognition, but for bands in general. Bands aren't getting played on radio the way they used to, especially guitar-playing bands.”
The Voice UK is set to return for a second season in 2013 and the filming for the show has already begun in Manchester at the MediaCityUK. The second season of The Voice UK is set to change slightly, with less live shows and more blind auditions and battle rounds.
