English soccer star David Beckham may well be one of the most recognisable people on the face of the Earth, thank to his chosen profession, but it seems that he had other careers on his mind as a kid. David has admitted that, when he was a young boy, he used to roll around in the mud, pretending he was in the army, as he wanted to be a soldier when he grew up.

David Beckham wanted to be a soldier
Beckham told the Daily Star, "I actually wanted to be a soldier, so I used to march around the house and roll around in mud. I built a den in my bedroom, with friends. We used to pretend we were soldiers and that we were in the Army, which was what I wanted to be when I was a kid." David then went on to talk about his favourite toy as a kid and how that has passed on to his children."
He added, "My favourite toy as a kid was Thomas The Tank Engine. One of my sons absolutely loves Thomas The Tank as well, so it's carried over. But obviously, my favourite bit of equipment was the football. From waking up in the morning, and going to school I used to carry the football. I think I actually slept with the football a few times."
