Dev Patel has been working very hard at his acting career for many years now, proving time and again that he is a very talented actor indeed. Dev put in a fantastic performance in the new movie Lion, where he had to get to grips with the Australian accent, and the actor has revealed his rather interesting preparation for the role.
Patel revealed, "To change the way I sound, that took a good eight months. It was eight months of solid repetition [and] I watched a lot of 'Australian Masterchef'! It went from my brain as soon as it was done... After eight solid months of repetition I was glad to say goodbye to it. It was torture, it's a very hard accent to grapple with."
Well it clearly worked out well for Dev Patel, as the actor put in such a fantastic performance in Lion that he managed to get a lot of recognition from some big award ceremonies, with the talented star bagging the Best Supporting Actor award at the BAFTAs recently, something which Dev has admitted came as a bit of a shock.
Patel added, "It's a lot to take in. I really did not expect to win. We have been going to all these awards and this one is where everything changed, on home turf with my family here. I used to watch this at home with my family and now for us all to be here, it's kind of an out of body experience."
Following his success at the BAFTAs, Dev Patel will now be looking ahead to the Academy Awards, where many people are tipping the actor to walk away with the Best Supporting Actor Oscar.
