Former X Factor semi finalist, Diana Vickers has split from her record label Sony/RCA by mutual agreement. Diana’s debut album ‘Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree’ went to number one in the album charts and her debut single ‘Once’ also hit the top spot. However, Vickers last two singles struggled, only managing to reach 36 and 13 in the charts.
An insider explained, "It's a mutual decision. Diana wants to go in a more indie direction influenced by acts like The XX and Bjork. She's a rock chick at heart and has been working with writers including James Walsh from Starsailor on new material. A deal has been struck between her management and RCA to give Diana back the handful of songs she's already recorded. It puts her in a strong position to negotiate a new deal now."
Diana Vickers is currently dating the frontman of Indie band One Night Only, George Craig, who also spends some of his time as a model. George Craig formerly dated Harry Potter actress Emma Watson. It will be interesting to see who takes the gamble on signing on Diana Vickers as an Indie Rock artist.
