It has been nearly two decades since the movie, The Lion King, first hit the cinema, and this 2 week outing is proving too much to resist for fans as its on course to be top of weekend box offices.
The film is only running for two weeks in cinemas nationwide, and then on 4th October 2011 they are releasing the 3D version on Blu-ray for fans to pick up.
Tracking suggested that the movie will gross $13m on Friday, but the expectation has grown due to a show of force from families eager to relive their own childhood with their families with estimates being made of a potential $18m to $20m in receipts for the weekend.
Whatever the outcome from this stage forward, it appears this has been a commercial success for Disney.
