There have been many iconic roles on both the big screen and the small screen over the years and we have enjoyed seeing how these characters have developed and evolved, but is seems that there are certain things that the fans will just not accept when it comes to casting a new actor in the role of such an iconic character.
One of the biggest and best small screen characters to ever come along, would have to be the hugely popular Doctor Who, with a number of very impressive stars taking on the role over the many years the show has been running. It was recently confirmed that current Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi is preparing to step down from the role, which has led to many rumours about which star will become the new Doctor Who.
Well, as seems to be the case with pretty much every character these days, there have been a number of people who have been calling for the first female Doctor Who, insisting that the time is right to make the big change. However, there are millions of Doctor Who fans around the world and, as expected, many of them are not excited about the possibility of a woman playing Doctor Who.
One disgruntled fan moaned, "Doctor Who is and always has been a man and if they make the new Doctor a woman I will stop watching the show, as will my friends. Absolutely ridiculous!" Meanwhile, another added, "Why do we have to keep talking about women playing such classic roles? Can't anyone actually write a new and exciting female character for the actresses to fight over? Leave Doctor Who alone please."
It is certainly going to be interesting to see whether they do have the bottle to go with a female Doctor Who and, should they ever do so, how it will actually affect the ratings of the show.
