There is no arguing the fact that Don King was once the biggest boxing promoter on the planet, responsible for promoting some of the best boxers in the world, in some of the biggest boxing matches of all time. Don was the man responsible for promoting the Rumble in the Jungle, between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in 1974, as well as the Thrilla in Manila, between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier in 1975.
In his career, Don King also promoted such top boxers as . Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Julio César Chávez, Aaron Pryor, Bernard Hopkins, Ricardo López, Félix Trinidad, Terry Norris, Carlos Zárate, Azumah Nelson, Andrzej Gołota, Mike McCallum, Gerald McClellan, Meldrick Taylor, Marco Antonio Barrera, Tomasz Adamek and Ricardo Mayorga. Don recently claimed that he was back working with Ricardo Mayorga, a claim the boxer denies.
Mayorga slammed, "I'll never fight for Don King's company. He never cared about me and left me and my family hungry in Nicaragua. He never helped me financially when I needed it. Also, I haven't had any connection to him since 2011. I'm not interested in any fight offered to me by Don King."
This is the latest in a long line of knock backs for Don King in recent years and, the man who was once responsible for promoting the biggest boxing events to ever take place, now struggles to get a single boxer to sign up with him. It truly looks like this is the end of the line for Don King!
