This season has been one of the most interesting and entertaining seasons in the history of the English Premier League, especially when you consider that Leicester City are the favourites to win the league at this late stage of the season. However, while Leicester City fans have loved their season so far, the same cannot be said for the Manchester City fans.
When it was announced that Pep Guardiola would leave Bayern Munich to join Manchester City in the Summer, replacing current manager Manuel Pellegrini, the club were still in four competitions and looking strong in all of them. However, this news clearly had a negative impact on everyone at the club and, not only are Manchester City going to end the season without a trophy, they are also at risk of missing out on the top four.
So, Pep Guardiola is going to have a lot of work to do at Manchester City and will need to bring in a lot of new players to stamp his mark on the club. One such player that Pep might be willing to turn to, is his currently Bayern Munich midfielder Douglas Costa, who he signed from Shakhtar Donetsk last Summer.
With that said, Douglas Costa will only have been at Bayern Munich for one season, while he would be reluctant to join a club that is without Champions League football. There is no denying that a name as big as Pep Guardiola at a club as rich as Manchester City is always going to attract big players but, without that Champions League qualification, Pep could find this his toughest managerial job to date.
