There has been a lot of talk about Dwayne Johnson playing a superhero in a Warner Bros. and DC project for a number of years now, with a number of different DC characters being linked to the actor. Now, Dwayne Johnson has been talking more about playing the role of Shazam, admitting that the project has been in the works for a number of years now and he cannot wait to finally get to work on the movie. Dwayne says that he wanted to make and official announcement about Shazam at San Diego Comic Con but was told that the timing was not right.
Johnson was chatting to Brazilian website Omelette, when he explained to them, "My trip to Comic-Con was a surprise, so I called personally to executives at New Line and Warner Bros. to see if they would like to announce Shazam me there. Unfortunately, it was not time yet, but the official announcement should happen soon."
He added, "I am 100% sure that the movie will happen We're talking about it since 2008, when I was offered the role for the first time was just a matter of finding the right script, and it finally happened now. We have a writer who understood the story and brought an amazing approach not only to Shazam, but the power of Black Adam as well."
It is expected that we will get an official announcement about Dwayne Johnson playing Shazam sometime later in the month.
