There have been a lot of Young Adult movies released over the past few years, such as The Hunger Games and Divergent, and there are a lot of people who have been expecting that the upcoming movie The Maze Runner will be in the same vein. We have seen a lot of promotional material for The Maze Runner over the past few weeks, which has given us a bit of a different impression of the film.
Actor Dylan O'Brien will star in the lead role for The Maze Runner and he has been talking about what to expect from the movie. Dylan says that, while there are plenty of people who will see The Maze Runner as a Young Adult movie, he insists that it is far from being a kids film.
O'Brien explained, "That’s something that might separate this, I think, being like one of those YA movies that are coming out. I so genuinely don’t think it’s like that. It totally exists in its own right and like he said, it could easily be taken as a kid’s movie just objectively, but there is a real sense- there’s this gravitas to it It’s really, really mature in that aspect of performances and just the story."
As well as starring Dylan O'Brien, the rest of the cast for The Maze Runner includes such talent as Kaya Scodelario, Will Poulter, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Patricia Clarkson, and Ki Hong Lee. The Maze Runner is directed by Wes Ball, based on the screenplay that Grant Pierce Myers, T.S. Nowlin and Noah Oppenheim adapted from the hit James Dashner novel.
