While the One Direction boys have come a long way since their days on The X Factor, writing more and more of their own songs for their albums, they still like to draft in some other stars to write songs for them. One of the One Direction go to guys over the years, has been singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran.
Ed Sheeran wrote the song Little Things for One Direction, which was a huge success and went to number one, much to the disappointment of his record label Atlantic Records. Ed says that the record company have told him not to write anymore songs for the boyband, although he has still written a new song for the new One Direction album Four.
Sheeran was chatting to Australian radio station Nova's Kent 'Smallzy' Small, when he explained, "I wasn't gonna do it...basically, my record label got very annoyed that my first number one was a song that I gave to someone else, and they were kind of like 'don't do it'."
Despite the fact that he defied the requests of Atlantic Records, Ed Sheeran does not believe that the record company will be too bothered by his decision to pen a song for the new One Direction album. Ed says that he wrote the song specifically for the British boyband and that he would never have recorded the track himself.
Sheeran added, "It's one of these songs that I wouldn't have used for myself, it's written specifically for them."
We look forward to hearing the new Ed Sheeran written One Direction song, as well as hearing the new One Direction album Four.
