While it was decided that the Beverly Hills Cop television series, which saw Brandon T. Jackson as the son of Eddie Murphy's Axel Foley, was not good enough to get taken to series, it seems that there was enough seen in it to call for Paramount agreeing to make Beverly Hills Cop 4.
According to those supposedly in the know, the performance of Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley in the Beverly Hills Cop TV was impressive enough to work on Beverly Hills Cop 4. Now, it has been confirmed that Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, will pen the script for the movie.
With the amount of awful movies that Eddie Murphy has made in the past few years, it seems that Beverly Hills Cop 4 could be the perfect way to get him back to his best. There is clearly a love of the franchise by Murphy and, when passionate and on form, the man can be a genius.
It will be interesting to see whether they can get Judge Reinhold back on board for Beverly Hills Cop 4 and how much we will see of Brandon T. Jackson in the movie. With script writing just beginning, we could see production get underway next year and a possible 2015 release. Then again, we could see it fall back into development hell once again.
